Obituary

Zachary Lee Henderson passed away peacefully on June 4, 2020 at the age 26 with his family by his side. Although Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is to blame, Zac decided it was time to start his New Season on the Heavenly courts.

Zac was born on August 28, 1993 in Tulsa, OK to Roger and Shelly Henderson. Zac lived in Sapulpa, OK all his life surrounded by a big family. Unfortunately, he was hit early with a diagnosis of Duchenne MD at the age of 3. Roger and Shelly decided from the beginning, this diagnosis would not define him nor his life.

Zac seemed to come into this world a sports fan. He started with his first love of baseball. He played two years of T-ball and two years of coach pitch with some very cool kids and amazing coaches. When he lost the ability to run, he picked up the trumpet and became a part of the Lone Star school band for the next two years. As he transitioned into a power wheelchair in 8th grade, he found the 4-H club at Lone Star which led into FFA at Sapulpa High School. This was the start of his lamb showing activity where he won several Reserve Champion awards.

The disease was slowly progressing, but you could only see it affecting Zac physically because mentally he was continuing to move forward with his life with no excuses. He became a part of the Sapulpa boys basketball team his sophomore year where he managed the stats, game film and was learning the dynamics of basketball. This became his new passion and purpose in life. Over the past ten years, Zac progressed from a stats guy to the team videographer making some amazing highlight films, to assistant coach and starting his own video business called LegitFilms. He loved being a part of molding and shaping these young men to help them get to their next level.

Sports may have been Zac's passion, but he also had a deep love for his family and friends, especially his sister, Taylor. He was always looking for reasons to spend time together and was ready to go wherever, whenever. He loved fishing, video games, movies, attending any sporting event or just playing games with his family.

Zac accepted Christ into his heart at a young age and lived his life as an example of what God's love can do with any situation. He was sure of his place in Heaven.

Zac is survived by his parents, Roger and Shelly Henderson; his sister, Taylor Henderson; grandparents, James & Peggy Titus; great-grandmother, Cleo Belk and blessed with an abundance of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by his uncle, Carl Henderson Jr; grandparents, Carl and Virginia Henderson; great-grandfather, Pete Belk; great-grandparents, Tracy and Pauline Titus.
